Blood Tests Needed

Before and During Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)

Are you new to TRT?

baseline.png

For clients who are new to Testosterone Replacement Therapy, the tests we’ve chosen are to help us identify other possible causes of some of the symptoms you’ve described that can be signs of Low Testosterone, and to alert us to other factors that may make therapy less than ideal.

We’ll be checking things like blood counts, lipid (cholesterol) levels, your prostate, and the hormonal loop that includes testosterone and other hormones related to sexual function.

Baseline Labs

If you're new to TRT, download one of these forms depending on which lab you'll be using. Most insurance covers routine blood work but some insurers have relationships with one or both of these labs, LabCorp and Quest.

Are you currently on TRT?

If you're already on Testosterone Replacement Therapy, either ours or others', the tests we've chosen are to help us track a few things.

Is the testosterone in your system available to your tissues at an optimal level?

This will help us to figure out whether you’re getting enough/too much and allow us to evaluate it in the context of “Are you feeling as though your symptoms are improving?”; and

Is the testosterone treatment causing any changes in other aspects of your health that we want to avoid?

We look at effects on your red blood cell count, your prostate, and the entire hormonal loop within which testosterone functions. Changes in your testosterone level influence changes in other sex hormones (estrogen, for example).

Follow-Up Labs

If you're already on TRT, download one of these forms depending on which lab you'll be using. Most insurance covers routine blood work but some insurers have relationships with one or both of these labs, LabCorp and Quest.

6-Week Labs

Once you're enrolled in our program, your doctor may ask to run another lab test to gauge initial response to the dose given in your treatment. This allows your doctor to make any necessary corrections and it also shows if there are any other noteworthy responses to address.
